HONG KONG: Hong Kong-based PR professionals are among the best paid
in the world, with consultancy heads receiving salaries at least 37 per
cent higher than their UK counterparts, according to the first-ever
PRWeek Salary Survey in Asia.
A UK consultancy chairman receives on average £50,395 a year,
compared to more than £69,200 in Asia.
The disparity might be explained in part by the fact that Asian heads
have regional remits and therefore oversee more than one country.
However, consultancy board directors in the UK take home on average
£60,290 a year, while in Hong Kong, all of those surveyed also
earn more than £69,200.
In-house PR chiefs in the private sector also do better in Hong Kong
than in the UK.
The UK salary survey, published in March (PRWeek, 30 March), showed
public sector PROs were losing out to those in the private sector by
more than £8,000 a year.
