Macmillan Cancer Relief has appointed two members of the NSPCC's
press office to share its head of PR role.
Hilary Cross and Lynda Thomas share responsibility for the development
of media relations strategy, working half a week each and splitting line
management responsibilities.
They applied for the job together having worked on the NSPCC's Full Stop
campaign as senior press officer and PR manager respectively.
Thomas said: 'We decided to move together and applied as a job share
team.' She said the challenge would be to develop the department's
fundraising and campaigning activity.
'The charity has always been successful in fundraising - we plan to
maintain this, but establish more campaigning PR work. This will mean
publicising the work the charity does and doing parliamentary and
issues-related PR,' Thomas said.
The pair report to acting director of communications Nicola Hewitt. The
charity is still looking for a full director after incumbent Deborah
Lincoln left last month.
