PR Newswire has created what it claims is the world's first global
online media database.
Online MEDIAtlas, described by PR Newswire as an attempt to help PROs
target the media more accurately, launched this week. Global project
manager Michael Osbourne claims the product is unique because of its
global reach and because it exists purely online, bypassing the need for
software.
The company said it had invested more than £1m developing the
product during the past 18 months. It aims to provide PROs with an
automatically updated source of information spanning five continents,
and can source profile information on more than 433,000 journalists and
138,000 media outlets in 172 countries.
The package includes a basic UK subscription with add-ons to other
international regions.
The site provides profile information on journalists and publications,
including information on how journalists prefer to receive press
releases and readership and circulation data on publications.
MEDIAtlas will launch in the UK simultaneously with the US. The European
version launches next week in the Benelux countries, while French and
Spanish-language versions are planned for the end of the year.
A German-language version is due to launch early next year.
