Global hospitality group Six Continents has promoted Dee Cayhill to
the newly created role of vice-president and head of media relations as
part of a company restructure.
Cayhill will take responsibility for media activities across the
international, corporate, financial, trade and regional sectors for Six
Continents, which includes a retail division of restaurants and bars and
Six Continents Hotels, such as Crowne Plaza Holiday Inn and
Intercontinental.
Six Continents rebranded in August following the sale of its Bass
brewery business, which saw the name Bass Hotels and Resorts
disappear.
The group now concentrates on hotel and leisure activities. Cayhill's
previous role as director of comms for Six Continents Hotels in EMEA,
has yet to be filled.
Kathryn Holland joins as group media relations manager, moving from her
post as internal communications manager for Six Continents Retail.
Cayhill said her role was more demanding amid challenging business
conditions following the US terror attacks and the global economic
slump.
'The travel industry is getting together to forge a closer working
relationship.
Airlines were amenable to talk to hotels before 11 September, but they
are getting closer. We are now working on a global strategy following
the US terror attacks,' she said.
