British Energy's head of communications is to stand down next year
as part of a restructure of the utility giant's in-house PR team.
Internal communications manager Irene Clark is set to replace Doug
McRoberts but a replacement will not be sought for her role.
Chief press officer Bob Fenton said although the decision not to appoint
an internal communications manager will cut costs this was not the
motivation behind the move.
He said: 'It was felt that there was no need to have both these two
senior roles.'
McRoberts reports to British Energy head of human resources Sally
Smedley, as will Clark when she takes up her new role.
British Energy is also looking to appoint an online communications
manager, following the departure of Ben Green from the role. He has left
to join web design firm Green Cathedral.
British Energy's 12-strong team includes six PROs based at sites across
Britain.
Fenton will continue to manage external PR and will report to Clark.
FTSE 100 company British Energy runs nuclear reactors, including
Dungeness B and Sizewell B. It also owns a coal-fired plant in Yorkshire
and has joint ventures to build wind-power facilities in the UK and
Canada.
