The Excellence Awards will be held during the CIPR local public services group (CIPR LPS) conference next February.
The conference- named Great Expectations- will take place in Bristol, and take in issues such as localism, new NHS structures and the transfer of public health into local authorities.
The awards show will also include one-off categories this year to celebrate work related to the Jubilee the Olympic and Paralympic Torch relays, and of the Games themselves.
Among the established categories run by the CIPR LPS, chaired by head of communications and consultation at London Borough of Hackney Polly Cziok, are Young Communicator of the Year and PR on a Shoestring.
The closing date for the awards is this Friday, with judging taking place over November 2012 and a shortlist announced on 3 December.
The final judging day will be in London in January.
