Ex-Hilton UK and Ireland PR director Julia Clark has taken the top
PR post at Le Meridien hotels.
The position of global PR director was vacated in June when incumbent
Phoebe Hamilton made a 'quality of life' decision to leave London after
less than 18 months in the job.
Her role originally encompassed only UK and Ireland but was expanded to
global communications last October. The post reports to group marketing
director Alan Briere, and sees Clark assume responsibility for external
and corporate communications.
Clark left the Hilton Group when Leslie McGibbon was promoted to a new
position of communications director following an organisational review
(PRWeek, 2 March). She left the firm shortly afterwards, having been
handed a remit to oversee PR for the group's London hotels by the
reshuffle, reporting to McGibbon.
Until its sale to Japanese investment bank Nomura earlier this year, Le
Meridien had been part of Forte, the UK's largest hotel group.
Le Meridien operates 125 hotels worldwide with a further 19 scheduled to
open next year.
