ATLANTA: A KEF Media Associates phone and e-mail poll of 50 local
market US TV newsrooms predicts that, barring unforeseen breaking news,
TV will return to normal news coverage by early to mid-October.
This would include normal levels of consideration for satellite media
tours, video news releases, and b-roll.
Most newscasters surveyed said the World Trade Center and Pentagon
attacks generated round-the-clock coverage from 11 to 14 September.
Most respondents said their stations returned to regularly scheduled
newscasts by 17 September, but that they expected coverage for the next
two weeks to be centred on the atrocities.
- VNR companies have been forced to cancel or postpone the distribution
of most of their regular stream of broadcast packages as a result of the
extraordinary news coverage of the terrorist attacks.
News Broadcast Network is advising clients it expects a normal service
to resume at the beginning of October.
