PUBLIC SECT0R: Kean quits Hants council to handle transport firm PR

Hampshire County Council is on the hunt for a head of corporate PR

and marketing following the departure of Mike Kean.

He is leaving the post next week to join Mott MacDonald, the transport

company which, through a public-private partnership scheme with the

council, maintains more than 1,000km of motorways and trunk roads in the

south of England.

He takes up the role of communications manager and is tasked with

devising the first PR strategy to deal with the contract

Kean joined Hampshire County Council in 1993 as a PRO and set up the

six-strong corporate PR and marketing team two years ago.

Mott MacDonald and the council were awarded the contract for Transport

Area 3, which includes parts of Oxfordshire, Sussex, Surrey and Dorset,

in 1997. At the time it was the first PPP in the transport sector.
