Nikki Johnceline has been appointed head of press at breakfast TV
Johnceline, who has been with the station since 1993, took over the
reigns at GMTV's press office last week.
She replaces former head of press Sue Brealey, who left earlier this
summer to launch her own PR vehicle, which will handle PR for presenter
PR for other presenters and all other matters will continue to be dealt
with by GMTV's four-strong in-house press and PR team, including
Johnceline's deputy and senior press officer, Kerry Carter.
After beginning her career at film giant 20th Century Fox, Johnceline
moved to TV-am as a press officer in 1984. When GMTV took over the
franchise from rival TV-am in 1993, she joined the station and was made
senior press officer and picture editor before taking on her latest
Johnceline, who reports to GMTV managing director Paul Corley, said she
did not intend to implement any major changes at GMTV. 'It's all about
continuity as far as I'm concerned - so we'll be carrying on pretty much
as before,' she insisted.
'What we've got to do is maximise press opportunities, raise the profile
of our presenters and work more closely with GMTV's programmes and sales
teams,' she added.
Full viewing figures for GMTV in the two weeks following the terrorist
attacks in the US have yet to be compiled but the station says ratings
for all breakfast TV channels rose by 28 per cent among the core
audience of housewives and children.
