HPS Group purchases automotive agency Jardine International

Marketing communications company HPS Group has bought PR agency Jardine International which has been rebranded as HPS Jardine.

Jardine International has specialised in automotive and motorsport, with clients including Nissan and BMW. Jardine International founder Tony Jardine becomes chairman of the new HPS Group subsidiary company.

‘HPS Jardine already has fantastic clients and we are confident that we are investing in a company that has real scope for growth under our umbrella,’ said HPS CEO Mark Cornwell, calling the acquisition a ‘very positive move’.

Cornwell said that he would let the team drive the business but remain involved. Rupert Williamson, the former head of marketing and communications for Yamaha’s MotoGP team and senior member of Jardine International, has been handed the job of MD.

Williamson said that becoming part of HPS would help develop Jardine’s use of digital and social media in campaigns.

‘We’re looking forward to working closely with the group to expand its offering, while further developing our outstanding reputation in the sport and automotive sectors,’ he added.

The purchase increases HPS Group’s turnover to £10.6m, and follows acquisitions of B2B agency Open Sky and digital animations company Breakfast of Champions in 2011.
