MEDIA: FT Saturday mag takes Edmonds to replace Watts

Mark Edmonds has succeeded Michael Watts as executive editor of the

Financial Times Saturday magazine.

Edmonds spent 20 years at The Daily Telegraph, including a stint as

property editor. Before joining Weekend FT, he was at property website and consulted on The Sunday Times' revamped property

section. Although Edmonds will handle the day-to-day running of the

magazine, he reports to Weekend FT editor Julia Cuthbertson.

Edmonds has responsibility for developing the content and direction of

the business.

He said: 'We need to think more about the type of stories we commission.

We want ideas about businesses we perhaps haven't thought of, quirky

things.' PROs could help in this regard, he added.

After leaving Weekend FT, Watts developed a magazine for Emap, which did

not launch. He is now acting as a consultant on The Observer.
