Pearmain will become a director, with responsibility for digital and social media, leading an eight-strong media team and contributing to the overall strategic direction of the business.
Reporting to co-founders Sarah Scales and Giles Fraser, Pearmain’s strategic task will be to grow the digital practice and build on the agency’s digital offering – which includes the full range of services; strategy, design and build, content creation, engagement and measurement.
Pearmain joined O2 as its head of social media in 2010, later becoming head of social media and PR.
He has also worked on pan-European digital and social communications, including taking responsibility for leading Telefónica Europe's social media approach across markets.
He was previously head of digital at Fishburn Hedges, where he advised clients including BT, Nestlé and Tetra Pak.
Scales said: ‘As the demand for integrated campaigns increases, we have been looking to add senior expertise and experience to lead our digital and social media strategy and execution practice.’
