7 September: Green Party opens autumn conference Bristol. Green Party Autumn 2012 Conference opens. Natalie Bennett has been elected as the new leader of the party.

8 September: The Mayor's Thames Festival London. A free outdoor event in London attracting more than 800,000 visitors annually to the Thames.

9 September: London 2012 Paralympic Games Closing Ceremony Stratford, London. The Closing Ceremony is titled the 'Festival of Flame', headlined by Coldplay.

10 September: Team GB victory parade London. 'Our Greatest Team' victory parade in celebration of the Team GB and Paralympics GB athletes.

11 September: Man Booker Prize shortlist announced. A shortlist of six books is announced at a press conference. The winner will be announced on 16 October.

12 September: Hillsborough files released 23 years after stadium disaster. Previously unseen government and police files concerning the 1989 Hillsborough disaster are released to the families of victims before being made available to the public.

13 September: Duchess of Cambridge makes first overseas speech Malaysia. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge continue their royal tour with a visit to Malaysia, where Catherine makes her first overseas public speech at Hospis Malaysia.
