Maitland recruits Campbell-Smith for Europe drive

The Maitland Consultancy has appointed Duncan Campbell-Smith - a

former US correspondent for The Economist - to help firm-up its

international expertise as part of a continuing push into Europe.

Campbell-Smith, also a former Financial Times journalist and McKinsey

consultant, joins as a senior consultant from Pearson Education, where

he was SV-P of strategy.

He joined Pearson as director of public affairs in 1994.

The Maitland Consultancy's chairman Angus Maitland said Campbell-Smith

was not joining to work for particular clients, but that his

international experience would be particularly useful to the group.

Maitland, said: 'He has overseas experience from when he was in the US

for The Economist, and is fluent in German.

'The main thrust of our strategy now is to internationalise the

business,' he added.

The agency earlier this year struck a deal with Euro RSCG to roll out

the brand into the Euro RSCG Network.

It is understood that the appointment follows an approach to the agency

from Campbell-Smith.
