Public Affairs: Rooke takes Volvo role

Volvo Cars UK has appointed Nikki Rooke as its public affairs chief, joining from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

Rooke becomes head of public affairs, events and sponsorship, replacing Duncan Forrester, who moves to a new role within Volvo Car Corporation.

Rooke joined the SMMT in 2008 from the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport, where she managed global PR. Before that she worked for Ford's Premier Automotive Group.

In July, Volvo called in Shine Communications to promote 'the world's first plug-in diesel hybrid'. The agency was approached for the project-based brief as part of a 'Switch to Pure' Europe-wide campaign around the V60 model.
