The appointment comes after PRWeek revealed that the UAE airline had gone out to pitch following more than a decade with the Bell Pottinger Group.

Fleishman Hillard confirmed in had won Emirates' retained PR account in a short statement.

Fleishman's work on the six-figure brief comes shortly after a global comms overhaul by Emirates to move from being a travel brand to a global lifestyle brand, under the ‘Hello Tomorrow’ banner.

In June PRWeek disclosed the Emirates account, dubbed Bell Pottinger’s ‘flagship’ account, was up for grabs after 12 years with the agency.

At the time, Lord Bell was planning to spin out  the agency from Chime Communications, and  Bell Pottinger Group MD David Wilson told PRWeek that Emirates' repositioning had led to the brand rethinking its comms set up.

Lord Bell's MBO has since been completed successfully.

Wilson added that during their time working together, the agency had taken Emirates ‘from being a relative unknown brand to a major player in the global airline industry.’

The ‘Hello Tomorrow’ campaign launched in Spring, with print, TV and digital used to spread the message, as well as billboards in New York’s Times Square.

As well as focusing on ‘consumer engagement and empowerment’, the brand is looking to target a younger audience.
