Opinion: Letters of the Week - The House of Lords comms budget covers more than media

The article 'Lords comms budget rises' (PRWeek, 27 July) painted a rather misleading picture of the investment the House of Lords is making in comms.

As well as the media team and website editors, the £820,000 annual budget also covers a three-person team handling information requests, and an outreach team that organises interactions between members and the public.

You compared all this activity with the £540,000 expenditure of the Commons on its Media & Communications Service, whose functions equate to those of the House of Lords media team.

Benet Hiscock, director of public information, House of Lords.
