Red Door Communications has been called in by United Open MRI to help launch an upright MRI scanner centre, one of only five in the world. The team will implement a media campaign to launch the centre in Leeds, which will provide people from the north of England with an alternative to the tunnel scanner system.

Celia Hall, former medical editor of The Daily Telegraph, has joined newly launched PR consultancy Elephant Communications as consultant director. She will assist the firm's creative and strategy service offers.

An Open Road/Populus poll has revealed that 75 per cent of people trust information from their GP more than any other source. Private companies were the least accepted information source (16 per cent), while 27 per cent of people were likely to trust national media.

Boehringer Ingelheim has teamed up with Healthrageous, a US digital health specialist, to create an internet and smartphone pilot to help type 2 diabetes sufferers manage the disease by encouraging them to keep to a regime.
