Global IT services firm CSC hands Harvard UK account

Harvard Public Relations has won a six-way pitch to handle the

pounds 180,000 PR brief for global IT services firm Computer Sciences

Corporation (CSC).

The Chime-owned technology firm replaces August.One Communications on

the remit, reporting to CSC marketing director Angela Bowland.

CSC has tasked Harvard with driving a strategic awareness and

positioning PR campaign across the UK. Harvard director Simon Jones

leads the account.

'In the IT services marketplace, where only a handful of major players

dominate discussion, CSC presents us with an exciting challenge,' said


'Considering the high quality of the organisation and its offerings, CSC

is the best-kept secret and our campaign will focus on raising its

profile across business audiences to a level where it can emerge as

leader in IT consultancy,' he added.

CSC launched in the UK in 1967 to provide IT services and solutions for

clients such as BAE Systems, Anglia Water, BHS and Ford. Its offerings

include consultancy, systems integration, outsourcing, e-ventures and

research services.

With more than 68,000 employees worldwide, CSC - which is headquartered

in California - recorded revenues of pounds 7.4bn for the year ending

December 2000.

Harvard will work alongside sister Chime Communications firm Insight on

the CSC account, with the tech PR specialist handling all analyst


Harvard adds the CSC account win to its recent appointment by

communications firm Transcomm (PRWeek, 8 June).

Jones also heads the Transcomm brief, which runs for an initial one-year

period and clocks up near six-figure fees.
