PARIS: Electricite de France (EdF) - parent group of London
Electricity and SWEB - has promoted Martine Griffon-Fouco to take its
top communications post.
Griffon-Fouco replaces incumbent Patrice Kreis later this month.
Kreis leaves the group after three years to pursue his own interests
During his time with the group Kreis helped define the group's
advertising strategy, communications surrounding the opening of the
French electricity market and EdF's international growth.
He also set up a cross-functional communications system throughout the
company and helped launch the current EdF website.
Griffon-Fouco inherits the same remit and is responsible for all
advertising, internal and external communications.
She is promoted from her former role as EdF's head of regional action in
France - a post which involved co-ordinating EdF's 22 delegations
throughout France and in the French overseas departments and
In her new role, she reports to EdF chairman Francois Roussely and will
be supported by a team of around 100, split between regional
EdF hired UK City PR firm Brunswick last month on a brief to advise the
group on strategic PR surrounding its part in the hostile £3bn bid
for Montedison, which is one of Italy's largest industrial conglomerates
(PRWeek, 13 July).
The Brunswick team, led by partner Rurik Ingram, was tasked with dealing
with all international media relations, which includes the UK and all
regions outside the group's headquarters in France.
EdF-owned London electricity is set to make a raft of communications
appointments as it seeks a comms manager, group public affairs executive
and a group media relations executive.
