Public Affairs: The Week in Lobbying

Peter Bingle Associates, recently set up by ex-Bell Pottinger Public Affairs chairman Peter Bingle, has joined the PRCA. Bingle explained the PRCA had 'dared to be brave unlike many others'. The news comes after Bingle announced last month he is joining the APPC.

Labour MP Thomas Docherty presented a private members' bill to the House of Commons last Monday to establish a register of lobbyists underpinned by a code of conduct. Docherty has also called for sanctions for non-compliance with the code of conduct. The bill is to be read a second time in February 2013.

FIA European Principal Traders Association has appointed RSJ regulatory affairs head Jan Dezort to its executive committee. Dezort has served in roles focusing on supervision and regulation of capital markets and international co-operation, with two regulators in the Czech Republic: the former Czech Securities Commission and the Czech National Bank.

Grayling has hired Sophia Harrison as director of its financial and professional services team. Most recently she was comms director at TLG and V-P corporate comms and public affairs at the Blackstone Group. She has also held senior roles at Standard & Poors Fund Services and Fitch.
