Cable operator Telewest is staging a pitch among UK PR firms for a
brief to continue its broadband services roll-out.
Final pitches for the account, which is understood to carry fees of an
estimated £350,000 to £450,000, are currently being
presented to the client.
Six agencies - including incumbent QBO, appointed in April last year -
have pitched for the account. Thought to be on the shortlist are
MacLaurin, The Red Consultancy, Countrywide Porter Novelli, Consolidated
Communications and Hill & Knowlton.
The latest stage of the campaign focuses on Telewest's broadband cable
service, aiming to show the firm as the consumer's broadband
'The PR review reflects a departmental restructuring,' said Telewest
head of consumer PR operations Rachel Turner.
The programme includes PR for Telewest's digital TV and telephony
Telewest and rival cable firm ntl have committed almost £10m to a
joint initiative to speed the take-up of high-speed, 'always-on'
internet access to consumers for £24.99 a month.
