If your agency was a film title, which one would it be?
Name your three best tech clients or account wins over the past year
• CoPilot Live was a great addition to our consumer tech portfolio. They are a market leading sat nav app business. The apps economy is on the rise, and our campaign has been focused on taking advantage of this for CoPilot Live - from maximising their presence at key events like Mobile World Congress through to increasing their blogger engagement.
• Outbrain is another fast-growth VC-backed business, who we have been working with for 18 months and this year we have extended the remit from managing the UK campaign through to international co-ordination of their European campaign .
• First Utility is a tech-driven company operating in the utilities sector. Our campaign has focused on driving mass-market consumer awareness of the firm. We also recently supported its recent partnership with US-based clean tech company Opower to launch a pioneering new energy efficiency programme for the UK market called my:energy.
What was the most exciting tech campaign you ran over the past year?
• Vitrue is an exciting business who we started working with at the beginning of this year. A US business originally, they are a leading social media management platform and we have been tasked with establishing them amongst the marketing and digital communities. They are really at the forefront of all that is happening for brands and marketers when it comes to social media and we have worked to position them in front of key media targets and influencers, as well as extend the reach of their opinion and comment to build a position of thought leadership. The campaign culminated recently with the fact that they have been acquired by Oracle…a sure sign that social media is being taken seriously by large enterprises.
What was the best piece of tech PR work NOT created by you over the past year?
The Facebook Timeline launch for marketers was a good campaign as it captured the interest of not only marketing trades but also filtered out to global business media. They built buzz around the launch and then held a global launch, with key brands that was watched online as much as reported about by media. Marketing and engagement via the Facebook as a platform is not going away and it was critical that they got it right and educated brands on what the potential is.
Who were your significant tech hires over the past year?
Rebecca Kiely joined us recently as an Account Director. She has a great track record having worked at some excellent technology agencies during her career, such as Hotwire and Octopus, and brings with her some valuable B2B and B2C tech client experience as well as a breadth of wider sector expertise.
Tell us how your digital work for tech clients has become more measurably effective
We are increasingly using social and digital measurement across our campaigns – for example when we create an opinion piece for a client, we measure the effectiveness of it for certain clients by the number of likes, tweets or shares. Another measurement tool that we have had in place for a long time now has been analysing the website traffic numbers and trends and linking it back to the PR programme and output, e.g. media coverage.
What are your plans for the agency over the next year?
We’re focused on developing the CubanEight team, building up our international network and demonstrating the credibility of the agency and the work we do.
