Professional services firm KPMG has assigned Fleishman-Hillard
special status as its global 'preferred provider agency'.
F-H won a two-way pitch against GCI Group to take the account. F-H's
status sees the firm act as an ad hoc global adviser for KPMG and its
156 worldwide member firms.
The accounting, tax, legal and financial advisory firm can call upon F-H
for strategic PR counsel on global issues.
US-based F-H senior partner Peter McCue said: 'Global preferred provider
is a designation, like a Good Housekeeping seal of approval.'
KPMG UK corporate communications head Gavin Houlgate, appointed in June
(PRWeek, 8 June), said: 'If a global issue of some description comes up
we can call on them as they have a team designated to KPMG and know how
the group works.'
He added that the appointment does not affect currently retained
agencies, nor the UK internal and external communications review he is
Houlgate announced a review of all KPMG's UK PR following his
appointment, although he did not confirm whether the review will lead to
an agency repitch or staff hires.
