A procurement process is under way for work covering the central part of the country, with the winning agency being handed a year-long contract. Another two agencies will be brought in for future briefs.
The winning agency will start a £100,000 programme of activity in July to promote the work the commission does to deliver training to young people on the national forest estate.
Hugh McNish, a health adviser for the Forestry Commission, said the work also focused on increasing awareness around the organisation's social work in health, access, recreation and engagement. Pointing to changes in the Scottish curriculum to emphasise outdoor learning, he added: 'We're looking to raise the profile of the work we are doing as we have limited resources within our own comms team.'
Currently, the Forestry Commission is in talks with five agencies about establishing the roster, which will run until at least 2015.
The future work to be given out under the framework will include 'special high-profile projects' and support for the core work of the organisation.
A decision is expected by late June.
