MEDIA: Gay Times adds health, fitness and sport content

Monthly lifestyle title Gay Times is to introduce a section looking

at health, fitness and sport.

Its publisher, Millevres Prowler Group, also plans to increase the

proportion of editorial content on its website.

Editor Colin Richardson said: 'The paper has covered these issues before

but the new pages will look at the body and mind as a whole thing. We

will bring all this stuff together. We are not going down the Men's

Health route but there will be gym-oriented articles along with sport

and health advice.'

The introduction of the as-yet-unnamed section does not represent a

shift in direction, Richardson insisted. 'It is simply a case of playing

The section will be co-ordinated by deputy editor Vicky Powell, who is

Richardson said Gay Times may also reposition some of its other


Its website is predominately sales-oriented at present, but Richardson

hopes to add more editorial content. 'It wasn't updated regularly

enough, which led to editorial material being withdrawn from the site in

favour of sales material,' he said.

'But an online or email news service is in the offing,' he added.

Gay Times' circulation, although not ABC-audited, is 64,000, half of

which is bought through newsstands.
