MEDIA: Increased airtime and more staff for pre-season MUTV

MUTV, the digital TV channel dedicated to Manchester United, is to

boost its editorial team and increase broadcasting hours ahead of the

new football season in August.

A change in licensing rights means that, for the first time, MUTV can

show Premiership games on a time-delay - sometimes as little as two

hours after the final whistle.

'This changes club channels into major sports broadcasting channels,'

said MUTV managing director Peter Brookes.

MUTV will continue with its three evening news bulletins. 'It is our

strongest brand,' Brookes said.

New programmes include an analysis of matches with a Manchester United

player, and a viewer-access slot.

MUTV broadcasts seven days a week between 5pm and 11pm. Editor-in-chief

is Bob Farrer and head of football is Kiera Barlow.
