The campaign, awarded by publishers Modern Art Press, has three focuses: preview, and review coverage, profile raising and a news story to coincide with book's publication. Social media will also be included as the agency seeks to engage art and book bloggers.
As part of a drive to raise Saumarez Smith’s profile with the general public, the agency has arranged for the historian to give a lecture at the Cheltenham Literature Festival in October, which it also promotes.
Four Colman Getty’s associate director Iliana Taliotis, who heads the account, said: ‘It’s quite a focused campaign around previews and reviews. Charles is such a colourful, well-respected and well-loved character in the art world that we want to use that to our advantage.’
Saumarez Smith is secretary and chief executive of the Royal Academy of Arts, and former director of the National Portrait Gallery and the National Gallery.
