Kiss FM appoints Shine to manage consumer brief

Commercial radio station Kiss 100 has appointed Shine

Communications to handle its consumer PR.

The agency, headed by MD Rachel Bell, was taken on following a three-way

pitch for the newly created brief.

A team from Shine Youth, the agency's specialist youth division, will

handle the account. The team, headed by co-founder Julia Newton, reports

to Russell Jones, Kiss 100's brand director.

Jones said: 'Shine has been taken on for a specific task: to promote the

strength of our DJs. If you are into dance music we have the best -

that's the message we want to get out.' DJs at the station include Boy

George and Tall Paul.

Shine will work with Kiss until March next year, when the account will

be reviewed.

Kiss 100 was the first specialist dance music station to be granted a

licence to broadcast when it launched ten years ago. It is owned by Emap

Performance, the division of the publishing giant that also houses Mojo

and Heat magazines.
