Procter & Gamble consolidates Pampers European and UK comms

Procter & Gamble, the world's largest consumer products group by sales, is consolidating European and UK comms for its Pampers brand into one agency as part of its drive to improve efficiency.

P&G is set to hand the UK work held by Fleishman-Hillard to Hill+Knowlton Strategies. It already uses the agency for the disposable nappy brand's EMEA activities.

The news follows last month's revelation that P&G had moved global PR duties for its Vicks brand to MSLGroup, which previously handled only European activities.

Last month, P&G cut its profit forecast for the year, against a backdrop of sluggish economic growth in the West, higher costs for raw materials and internal restructuring.

P&G brand PR manager Catherine McMahon confirmed the account shift but declined to comment on further consolidation plans.

Fleishman-Hillard will continue to work on the Pampers account until the summer.

Meanwhile, the agency has won the PR and social media account for Symington's foods, which includes Ragu.
