Mayhew chosen to run PR division for Brilliant Media

Brilliant Media, the largest independent media buying company

outside London, has created a PR arm.

Brilliant PR is headed by Nick Mayhew, who joined earlier this month.

His team will initially be composed of freelances but he plans to build

a permanent team of 'five to ten' within a year.

Mayhew said Brilliant would offer full PR services but acknowledged his

own experience is in corporate and B2B work.

Leeds-based Brilliant has around 60 clients, whose PR needs have led to

the creation of Mayhew's post. Mayhew refused to disclose which

Brilliant clients would use his division's services.

Brilliant managing director David Moutrie said: 'PR has always been

closely linked to media advertising in communication. PR is a natural

extension of our current services.'

Prior to joining Brilliant, Mayhew spent 18 months as an account manager

for Weber Shandwick in Leeds. Before that he was at Wetherby-based

Two-Ten Communications, the commercial arm of the Press Association, for

four years. Prior to that he was PR and marketing manager at Uni Glass

in South Africa.

Brilliant Media, which employs 45 staff, was created in September 1999

after the merger of Media Lane and DMS. Turnover last year reached

pounds 80m.
