Public Sector: The Public Sector Week

Westminster City Council's comms team was set to take part in its penultimate Olympic rehearsal this week. The preparations come ahead of teams being deployed in 'operation centres' across the city during the Games.

The local Government Association's new director of comms has vowed to 'reflect as best we can what our members want'. David Holdstock, who started last week after leaving his former position as Hillingdon Council's head of corporate comms, said he would be setting up meetings with council comms teams and leaders 'to find out how we can add value to what we do'.

The Welsh government is preparing a publicity offensive around changes to the NHS, the BBC has reported. Leaked Cabinet papers revealed the need for 'unambiguous and direct' language and warned of the dangers of continuing with current service plans. While Freshwater chief executive Steve Howell called for a 'well-informed debate', a Welsh Government spokesman said engagement would be down to local health boards.

The Outer Hebrides Tourism Industry Association is in final talks with agencies over managing projects to increase the tourist appeal of the islands.
