SAN FRANCISCO: UK PR agency Lexis Communications has opened its
first international office in San Francisco.
The London-headquartered consumer agency, which launched in 1992, has
rehired Alice Chan Heckman as president of the operation.
She originally joined in 1994, but left to work for Technology Solutions
and InterActive PR in the US.
With its US venture, Lexis plans to specialise in the promotion of both
start-ups and established tech companies.
CEO and co-founder Bill Jones seemed unfazed by that market's recent
troubles: 'We are turned on by the fact that some of the heat has gone
out of the market.
'It is really tough if you have already been operating in it and are
finding yourself having to downsize in that market,' he said.
Lexis US has already signed its first client, xSides. The agency will
handle market development, corporate positioning, and media relations
for the Seattle-based software company.
