Former The Face ed starts work on Motorola account

Amsterdam-based agency The Fish Can Sing launched last week with

the signing of Motorola as a retained client.

Operating globally from its Dutch base, the agency has been retained as

global consumer and guerrilla PR marketing agency by the mobile phone

giant. The account, which includes UK work, is understood to earn fees

of £400,000.

The agency is led by ex-Hill & Knowlton director Dan Holliday, and

includes former The Face editor Richard Benson as creative director. The

firm reports to Motorola director of global communications and public

affairs Leslie Dance, who is based in the US.

The Motorola business had previously been handled by Amsterdam-based

agency Blueberry Frog, which was co-founded by Holliday and Howard

Beale, another The Fish Can Sing founder.

Holliday attributed the split to a 'difference in direction' sparked by

his previous agency's focus on guerrilla marketing. He said the brief

has been enhanced beyond guerrilla work and comes with a 'significantly

increased' budget.
