MEDIA: Future revamps computer mags for wider appeal

Future Publishing is shifting the focus of two of its computing

magazines in a bid to appeal to more readers.

From next week, PC Format, which was launched in 1991, will carry a new

16-page supplement. In line with reader research, the 80,100-selling

monthly has also bolstered its news and advice sections. Editor Dan

Hutchinson said a redesign would make it easier to navigate. Each issue

comes with either a covermounted DVD or two CD-Roms.

Meanwhile, eight-year-old MacFormat is this week relaunched with an eye

on the high and professional end of the Macintosh market, with more

tutorials, tips, expert opinions, internet coverage and an extra 48

pages. MacFormat is edited by Rachel Spooner, who took over at the end

of May.
