Lexis Public Relations has been chosen to promote the Jongleurs
Comedy Club and Walkabout Inn chains, after securing a deal believed to
be worth pounds 200,000 a year with Regent Inns, the chains' owners.
The account was won in a five-way pitch, after 11 agencies put forward
via the PRCA's PReview had been whittled down in March. Lexis assumes a
consumer and trade brief to raise the firm's profile.
The work was previously held by Guildford-based Craigie Taylor
International and it is believed Regent were keen to switch to a central
London consumer PR shop. Financial and corporate communications for the
LSE-listed entertainment firm are handled by Merlin Financial.
Regent Inns has been linked with a bid to acquire the Pitcher and Piano
chain of pubs, to add to its existing holdings of 22 Walkabout Inns,
eight Jongleurs, and a number of unbranded outlets.
The account is led by Lexis director Margot Raggett, who described the
agency's remit as 'national brand building', aimed at an 18 to
35-year-old age range. Raggett said that Lexis' experience with other
pub brands - including Pubmaster - had been influential in the hiring.
