Priory in public affairs hire

The Priory Group, one of the UK's largest private healthcare firms, has appointed Chris Thompson as director of public affairs. He said his key aims would be to give the Priory a 'voice' in the light of NHS reforms and to 'maintain and increase our visibility'. He will retain his responsibilities as chief medical officer.

The HCA's annual healthcare comms conference, Molecule to Marketing, an Introduction to Healthcare Communications, at which Chandler Chicco Agency MD Anne-Marie Rodriguez de Killeen will be a guest speaker, is to be held on 20 April at Novartis' HQ in Surrey.

Fleishman-Hillard has hired six healthcare specialists: account director Emma Coughlan, from Galliard Healthcare Communications; senior medical writer Karen Pilgram, from Gardiner-Caldwell Communications; and account executives James Gunson, Megan Hollingdale, James Selvey and Cara Thomas.

Axon Communications has recruited Fiona Walton as associate director to expand the firm's expertise in ethical healthcare. She joins after four years as an account director with Edelman.
