Corporation of London to 'take stock' of press role

The Corporation of London is reviewing the role of head of


The decision follows the resignation of Brendan Murphy who only joined

in February.

He reported to Tony Halmos, director of PR, who is taking on Murphy's

role in the interim, heading the five-strong press desk.

Halmos said: 'When you have a senior post like this become vacant we

think it is important to take stock. We will be looking to replace

Brendan but are not in a rush.'

He added that PR work for the Corporation was unusual as it requires a

high level of knowledge of both local government and the financial


Before joining the corporation, Murphy was head of press for the Local

Government Association and also undertook consultancy work for the Audit


Aside from the City of London, the Corporation also has responsibility

for the Barbican Arts Centre, Epping Forest, Hampstead Heath and the

Central Criminal Court.
