Troubled e-security giant Baltimore Technologies has narrowed its
agency roster, awarding an enhanced pounds 150,000 brief to Brands2Life
following a head-to-head pitch against fellow retained agency Firefly
Brands2Life became involved with Baltimore following the firm's
acquisition of Content Technologies - which used the agency - last
The review sees the agency assume Firefly's corporate, issues
management, and product handling responsibilities. Baltimore already
retains Financial Dynamics on a financial PR brief.
Sarah Scales, who founded Brands2Life with partner Giles Fraser last
May, heads the account, reporting to Baltimore marketing director Tara
O'Sullivan at the company's Dublin headquarters.
The UK pitch is part of an ongoing EMEA-wide review overseen by
O'Sullivan as a result of Baltimore's recent acquisitions. She
attributed the switch to one agency to the 'large proportion of revenue
coming from the UK, and the fact that we were confusing the market by
having two agencies speaking for us'.
The appointment comes just a month after Baltimore axed 250 jobs - 18
per cent of its workforce - in an attempt to halt continuing losses of
around pounds 5m every month. Shares in the firm which stood at pounds 9
last September have now slumped to just 65p each.
