Brent Council PR chief Pirotta sets up consultancy

Brent Council PR chief Marina Pirotta is to quit to set up her own


Pirotta, Brent director of communications and consultation, will leave

next month to start Marina Pirotta Communications, based in east


The agency will have an initial staff of three and concentrate on public

sector work. Three clients have been confirmed, including the

Improvement and Development Agency, the local government body set up two

years ago to improve councils.

MPC will be carrying out interim management and communications strategy

work for the agency.

Pirotta said: 'I had gone as far as I could with in-house PR. I also

wanted to stay with the public sector because I love the issues


Pirotta has spent eight years in local government PR in London after a

career as a journalist. She handled PR at Islington, Camden, Newham and

Hackney, before joining Brent 18 months ago.
