The Association for UK Interactive Entertainment has taken on Portland Communications to advise on its public affairs. After a competitive process, the body for video games publishers chose Portland, which adds UKIE to its roster of media and tech clients. 2012 will see UKIE, under new chief executive Jo Twist, campaign on skills, access to finance, social responsibility and intellectual property.

The Public Relations Consultants Association Ireland, which represents 29 PR and public affairs firms in Ireland, has broadly welcomed the Government's consultation on the proposed introduction of a lobbyist registration system.

Acumen Public Affairs has hired former Hill & Knowlton Brussels head of EU healthcare public affairs Anna De, who will work from London and Brussels. She was instrumental in growing H&K's practice to be the largest policy practice in the Brussels office. Acumen aims to develop its integrated public affairs and comms service offering.

Four Comms has been brought on board to help push for the development of a planned tower block at London's 1 Blackfriars. The public affairs brief is being handled on behalf of St George, part of the Berkeley Group.
