MEDIA BRIEFS: Miller to run Emap as Hand walks out

The departure of chief executive Kevin Hand from Emap on 29 May

leaves the publisher facing a massive deficit on its purchase of US

publisher Petersen. Hand had come under mounting pressure to leave after

the ill-judged pounds 850m acquisition two years ago. Chairman Robin

Miller, who was chief executive for more than a decade until 1998, has

temporarily taken over Emap.
