Ogilvy PR Worldwide has been appointed by a European contact lens
manufacturers coalition to spearhead a global PR campaign.
The newly-formed Vision of the Future coalition handed the agency the
six-figure account after a non-competitive pitch.
Ogilvy associate director Miriam Hughesman, who has worked on health,
medical and consumer accounts under MD Donna Zurcher, will head the work
and oversee a team of six.
She will report to various contacts at Vision of the Future, made up of
the Association of Contact Lens Manufacturers in the UK, and European
umbrella association, EUROM.
The campaign begins with a pilot programme to be run simultaneously in
Birmingham and Barcelona.
'Targeting twentysomethings, the campaign is light-hearted but has a
serious message. It will offer advice and information with registered
optometrists and promotions teams at health clubs, bars, shopping
centres and offices throughout the two pilot cities,' said Hughesman.
