JK wins Enterprise Ireland contract

Tech PR consultancy Johnson King has won an account with the Irish

Government's trade and technology agency, Enterprise Ireland.

JK account director Joe Banks will head the account and has a brief to

nurture 'innovative' Irish companies by offering a raft of services

including financial and strategic advice, as well as providing help with

media relations in the UK.

Banks said: 'Effectively, we'll be running lots of micro PR campaigns

for a whole range of companies. At the same time, we have to try and

somehow ensure that they're written about under the banner of Enterprise

The aim of the EI campaign is to position Ireland as an international

telecoms and software powerhouse.

'The Irish Government has proactively supported its country's IT

start-ups and encouraged a culture where hi-tech innovations had been

allowed to thrive. EI is helping such companies to successfully compete

in global markets,'added Banks.

JK was appointed without pitch for the retainer brief - though EI had

been talking to other agencies before the appointment.

Before JK was officially hired, the agency was given a small

project-based contract last October to gauge the response of the UK

press to EI's UK office.

'It was to see if there was sufficient interest among UK media to

warrant the campaign continuing,' said Banks.

EI decided the initial campaign was 'successful in positioning EI's UK

clients,' and the decision was taken to continue the campaign throughout

this year.
