Belo leaves Text 100 after plans for B2B refocus

Tech PR firm Text 100 has lost its consumer technology chief Simi

Belo amid plans to refocus on B2B.

Associate director Belo leaves Text after just under a year heading the

firm's consumer technology offering (PRWeek, 16 June 2000).

She departs to launch her own consumer agency, which is yet to be


Belo was first taken on to establish a fresh consumer division for Text.

The original unit was spun off to form Bite Communications six years


Now, the firm's plans to train staff in consumer PR and build the sector

have been scrapped as Text decides to concentrate on B2B.

Text 100 UK managing director Glen Goldsmith said: 'We reviewed our

consumer technology business and decided not to move out of that area

but realised that our strength was in B2B.'

'Simi took the decision to move on. Her heart is in consumer technology

and working for a firm that's focusing on B2B, and will continue to do

so, was not in her interest.'

He added that Text 100 will be focusing on vertical markets and their

core businesses: biotechnology, public sector, retail and financial
