H Bauer has finally broken cover on its much-hyped 'Project
Helena': it is Real, a glossy fortnightly, which will hit the
news-stands on Tuesday (3 April).
Real is attempting to differentiate itself by promising 'a good read',
although specific details of editorial content were thin on the ground
this week.
Editor Janice Turner claimed: 'The existing women's glossies are
beautiful to look at but they only take about five minutes to flick
through.'
Aimed at 25 to 45-year-old women, Real will combine aspirational content
with 'the human drama of real life in all its passion, humour and
complexity,' she added.
Writers such as Toby Young, Julie Burchill and Channel 4 newsreader
Kirsty Lang will contribute. Real has an initial print run of 900,000.
