Red Consultancy snaps up Edelman tech expert Paul Wooding

The Red Consultancy has hired Paul Wooding as managing director for technology.

Wooding, who has more than 17 years of experience working in technology journalism and PR, was most recently a senior vice-president at Edelman.

He replaces David Vindel, who was poached by Ketchum Pleon after being in the role for four years, and will be leading the technology practice at Red.
Andrew Baiden, Red's group MD, said: ‘We are very excited to have someone of Paul’s calibre to run our technology business. He brings a really strong set of skills that will benefit our technology clients and our technology team will benefit from his knowledge and leadership.’

While at Edelman, Wooding led the Hewlett Packard PSG UK, Orange Group, Motorola Home, Datacash and Linkedin UK accounts.

Before this he held senior roles at Weber Shandwick and Blanc & Otus, working with clients including Microsoft, Samsung, LG and Sonos.

Prior to his career in PR, he wrote for a number of newsstand and trade magazines, including editing titles for the international entertainment licensing and toy industries.
Most recently, Wooding has focused on creating and engaging with online communities to drive trust of and consideration for client products and services.
