Alfa Bank takes Reuters Mooney for London post

Russia's largest private bank, Alfa Bank, has appointed former

Reuters correspondent Brian Mooney as its first head of media and PR in

London.

Mooney joins with a remit to lead all PR for the bank internationally,

excluding Russia.

Part of his immediate brief is to hire external PR support covering

Europe and the US.

Mooney said he will be looking at agencies to handle financial PR and

sponsorship briefs, although he added they may be appointed on an ad hoc

basis.

Until this year, Alfa Bank retained Hill & Knowlton for global project

work.

Mooney's appointment is part of the bank's drive to enhance its global

reputation and attract overseas investment.

He reports to Alfa Bank head of PR, advertising and marketing Alexander

Gafin and head of corporate finance Alex Tolchinsky, who are both based

in Moscow.
