The telecoms giant is opening a store aimed at small to medium-sized businesses called The Workshop, which is being launched at the brand’s flagship store in Tottenham Court Road. The Workshop, managed by O2 franchise Telenomics, will sell comms products, while also providing seminar facilities for small businesses.

It is understood that the brand has shortlisted four agencies for a pitch process.

The brief reads: ‘Small businesses in the UK are losing support with the closure of government organisations such as Business Link, despite a government push for entrepreneurship and growth… businesses therefore need access to expert advice and networking opportunities to help them support their business as it grows.’

The brief goes on to call for support on media relations and events, aimed at promoting The Workshop to businesses within London. The appointed agency would be called on to place opinion pieces, case studies and white papers in the business press and local London press.

The agency would also be required to provide creative ideas of how to gain coverage, and ‘potentially provide input into the strategy of the business’.

The news follows O2’s appointment of John Doe as it seeks to increase its 'sense of cool' among younger audiences.

O2’s parent company Telefonica UK has recently promoted Nicola Green to the role of director of comms and reputation.
